Why is Amazon so successful?

Amazon.com is so popular nowadays, it seems like half the searches you type into Google now will bring up something from Amazon you can buy. You can search for almost anything on Amazon, from a blues guitar dvd to an orange bath, and you will usually find they sell it and have it in stock, or if they don’t then they list a merchant who does.

I think that is a big part of why Amazon are so successful, because they have what you are looking for, at a good price, and most of the time you get free shipping. Isn’t that everything we want when we look to buy something? Plus with all the scams going on online then it is nice to have someone you can trust with your details. Yes you could maybe shop around to find the product cheaper at another site, but do you trust them to look after your credit card details and deliver the product properly?. I happily let Amazon store all my credit card details and delivery details, then I can order things in 3 or 4 clicks. Of course that is not really that good because it means I can make lots of impulse purchases before I have a chance to come to my senses, and then a big thick credit card bill hits me a month later! Once you have placed an order with them then they send you a confirmation email which is a big relief as if a company doesn’t do that then sometimes you wonder if they received the order when it hasn’t arrived in a few days. Then they dispatch it to you really quickly, even using the free shipping option then I have had stuff dispatched the same day!
